Consultancy: Profero
Client: Johnson’s Baby
Date: 2012
Johnson's Baby engaged Profero to design and develop a Facebook app to reassure all first time mums that it’s going to be a very positive experience, and that they really are doing a great job.
The app encourages users to share positive and encouraging messages to new mums. When message is shared, the app will create a unique 'patch' that will be added to the growing patchwork of collective wisdom from mums across Australia and New Zealand. The most popular patches will be then printed on thousands of baby wraps to be donated to the Murdoch Children's Research Institute for new mothers involved in research to improve children's health
I was part of a team consisted of a digital strategist, creative director, UX designer, developer and a project manager.
At the kickoff meeting, we received the project brief from the client. This was my first time designing a Facebook app, so I began by researching existing Facebook apps in the market to understand their functionality and user experience.
I also explored Facebook's 'Open Graph' protocol, which controls how a website's content is displayed when shared on Facebook. This research helped me understand how to specify the information shown in link previews, ensuring a seamless integration with Facebook's ecosystem.
Next, I collaborated with the creative director to brainstorm ideas and sketched initial design concepts for the app, laying the foundation for the design process.
I presented the design options to the client, and after their feedback, we secured approval on the preferred design. From there, I collaborated closely with the engineer to develop and test the app, ensuring the final product aligned with both the design vision and technical requirements.
The Johnson's Baby Mum 2 Mum Facebook app was successfully launched in 2012 and was very popular among mums and mums-to-be in Australia and New Zealand.
